Infection Prevention and Control week celebrated at Apollo Chennai |
|
Infection Control Week is an annual event at Apollo Hospitals to highlight the tremendous amount of work the staff do all year round, to keep patients who come into contact with healthcare services, safe and free from healthcare associated infections. Infection prevention and Control week, this year was celebrated by Apollo Hospitals Chennai from 31st August till 4th Sept 2009.
Today Infection Prevention & Control is one of the top priorities for Health care Providers. It is the responsibility of every member of staff to protect patients, visitors and colleagues by preventing infections.
The main objectives of celebrating infection prevention and control week are:
- To ensure that staff working within the healthcare environment understand their role, accountability and responsibility in reducing healthcare associated infection
- To support the principles of national policy and guidance, chiefly the Code of Practice for the prevention and control of healthcare associated infection
- To help improve clinical outcomes and patient safety through evidence based infection prevention and control practice
Dr.P.Kuganantham, HEALTH OFFICER, Public Health Department, Corporation of Chennai, in his chief guest address appreciated the initiative taken by Apollo Hospitals to spread the awareness among the staff and public. He also appreciated the team spirit of every department in conducting the infection control week and making it a grand success. He requested Apollo to participate in a private public partnership to educate Healthcare workers in the public sector on Infection Control practices. |
